Introducing NjiraAI: Intelligent Guardrails for AI Agents

By NjiraAI Team

Today we're launching NjiraAI, a new way to observe, debug, and govern AI agent behavior without breaking capabilities.

The Problem

  • AI agents are increasingly powerful, but with that power comes risk. Agents can:
  • Access sensitive data
  • Execute financial transactions
  • Interact with external systems
  • Make decisions with real-world consequences

Traditional guardrails are either too restrictive (breaking legitimate use cases) or too permissive (letting harmful actions through).

Our Approach

NjiraAI takes a different approach: intelligent guardrails that understand context. Instead of simple blocklists, we evaluate each action based on:

  1. **What** tool is being called
  2. **Why** it's being called (the context)
  3. **Who** is making the request
  4. **Where** (which environment/project)

This allows us to make nuanced decisions. A $50 charge might be fine, but a $5,000 charge needs additional scrutiny.

Shadow Mode First

We believe in testing before enforcing. That's why every policy starts in Shadow Mode—logging what *would* happen without actually blocking anything. Once you're confident, flip to Active mode.
